This is The Scoop, all you need to know
about AVCRC this week
February 6,  2026

Please join us at 10:00 am for our Sunday Worship Service!
Holy Communion is celebrated on the second Sunday of each month,
unless otherwise announced. We  welcome Pastor Zach Hillman
Sermon Series – The Minor Prophets

Please Continue to Pray~ Give thanks and praise to the Lord from whom all blessings flow throughout the day, and all through the night.

~ Ask  that we would be humbled to hear his word that is a lamp unto our feet, as it leads us along the path to lead us home.  Ask for protection from distractions that can tempt us to lose our way.

~ Again, ask for protection and healing for those we know to be recovering from illness and injury.  And again, remember all caregivers in our prayers.

Church Renewal: Life cycles
Pray for congregations in the CRC that are discerning their future. Many congregations are seeking God’s wisdom about what their next steps may be—whether to close, to restart, or to bless a new congregation with their resources. As congregations near the end of their life cycle, pray that the kingdom of God will continue to grow through the Lord’s churches.

Special OfferingFebruary – Salvation Army – Bread of Life:  Providing food and health care for community members in the Port Alberni area.
March – Guatemala:  Our church has a contract with Resonate Global Missions and we have been supporting a youth center (Centro Alcance) in Guatemala since 2012.

We’ve got Winter Greens!!
Come out to Spirit Square Farmers’ Market on Saturdays and pick up fresh Shelter Farm in season Salad Mix!!   And don’t forget, we have also got lots of farm fresh eggs available as well.  Can’t wait to see you there 😊

For those who have been around the farm over the last year, you know the heart and soul that Riley has poured into this place!   As of the end of January, Riley has officially stepped down from his role as Farm Manager.  And with that, we want to wish him well on all his future endeavors!!

But fear not, if you’re volunteering down at the farm this year, you may still occasionally see him helping in other capacities…

Coldest Night of The Year – Saturday, February 28th
As I have in the past, I am coordinating a team to help raise funds for Sage Haven.Together with thousands of Canadians across the country, we will be walking and fundraising to support people and families experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness in our community.  If you are able and would like to be a part of our team please contact me.

All walkers must register for the event online at any time or in person on the day of the walk.  This year, CNOY, will be starting at the Royal Canadian Legion, 4680 Victoria Quay.
* Registration/check in starts at 4.  You can register for a 2 km or 5 km walk
* Opening remarks start at 4:45.
* The walk begins at 5:00.
 * A light meal will be served at 6:00.
Donations would be gladly accepted.  Donating directly online is the easiest.

Andrew Taylor
   * Has run tech for Northgate Church in Courtenay for years, and is also Five Acre Shaker’s lead tech.  He’s the best around, and he’s a great guy too.  He also does a great job of training.

** This is a great and easy way to get some volunteers started on audio tech.  A good sounding mix is surprisingly helpful when it comes to leading your church in worship (and a bad sounding mix is equally distracting).
